On February 11, at the Shin-Tomei Expressway-Tomei Gotemba Junction (JCT), an event occurred in which about 1,000 vehicles stagnated, causing a great deal of inconvenience to our customers and related organizations. We would like to take this opportunity to deeply apologize.
The winter climate will continue for a while. On Expressway in winter, the weather can change suddenly and snow can occur. When using the Expressway in winter, please wear winter tires and carry tire chains.

[Current status of business (January 2017)]

Regarding operating conditions, toll revenue in January was 51,035 million yen, an increase of 2.9% from the same month of the previous year, and the number of traffic per day was 1,759,000 units, an increase of 1.9% from the same month of the previous year. ..
In January, both toll revenue and the number of traffic increased due to the effect of opening Shin-Tomei Expressway and Ken-O Road and the effect of heavy traffic closures being smaller than last year.

Next, regarding the status of construction, please see the map in Document 1-1.
As reported last month, the section from the Rokugo Interchange (IC) on the Chubu Odan Expressway to the Masuho IC, approximately 9km, will open at 15:00 on Sunday, March 19, 2017.
Prior to the opening of this road, we are closing day and night continuously from February 20 (Monday) to March 6 (Monday) to refresh the Chubu Odan Expressway and remove the Southern Alps Main Toll Gate. We apologize for the inconvenience, and we ask for your understanding and cooperation.
In addition, as a future plan, we plan to open the site to the press before the opening of the site on March 15th. If you decide the details, we will inform you again, so please join us.

Next is the status of the service area (SA).
Sales in the SA / Parking Area (PA) in January were ¥ 15,041 million, an increase of 9.3% year-on-year, and sales of the Food and Beverage / Sales Division increased 2.7% year-on-year.
The main reasons for this were the increase in sales due to the opening of NEOPASA Okazaki and Nagashino-Shitaragahara PA, and the strong sales at the beginning of the year.
Sales in the gasoline segment increased 26.4% year-on-year, due to the fact that the selling price was positive compared to last year, and the volume of refueling exceeded the previous year due to an increase in traffic volume.

Regarding Higashi-Meihan, it was announced in November last year that a part of the In-bound line between Suzuka IC and Yokkaichi IC will be extended by about 8 km for a temporary 3-lane operation section. Surveys such as surveying have been conducted locally since the end of January, construction work will begin in March, and construction work will continue during the refreshment construction period.
In addition, regarding the concentrated work of Meishin Expressway that is being carried out every year at this time every year, we are coordinating with related organizations to carry out this year as well, and we will announce it as soon as a specific schedule is decided.
During the intensive construction period, we apologize for any inconvenience and inconvenience caused to customers using the Expressway and the surrounding area due to congestion and congestion, but we ask for your understanding and cooperation.

[We carry out disaster drills at SA / PA / toll booths]

It has been six years since the Great East Japan Earthquake.
We place the highest priority on customer safety and conduct company-wide disaster drills in March. This is an ongoing initiative as "Efforts to prevent the Great East Japan Earthquake from weathering."
This fiscal year, as shown in Document 3, we aim to ensure even greater safety for our customers, with 417 SA / PA 159 locations and 258 toll booths, for a total of 417 locations, and we ask our customers for their cooperation. We carry out disaster prevention drills.
On the day of the training, we will carry out customer evacuation guidance training at SA / PA, operation training to actually operate the deployed emergency supplies, and behavior confirmation training for customer evacuation guidance at toll booths.
For the media, we will publish the training at four places listed in the materials.

[New mechanism for regional cooperation, human resource development in collaboration with regional partners]

In order to "provide community-building and regional support through tailor-made and detailed support," we launched four projects in collaboration with regional partners from the perspective of regional cooperation and human resource development. [Truck platooning and automatic driving]

As for the recent topic of Expressway, there is a great interest in the spread of unmanned truck platooning and automatic driving in the state of using the automatic driving technology to solve the serious driver shortage in the logistics industry. It is being done.
Regarding the vehicle platooning at the government's future investment conference last week, Shin-Tomei Expressway started a demonstration experiment in which people got on all vehicles in January 2018, and unmanned subsequent vehicles after 2022 In the state, we are aiming for commercialization between Tokyo and Osaka.
Regarding automated driving at Expressway, we will start a demonstration test from around September 2017, aiming to commercialize advanced automated driving (level 3) and commercialize it by 2020. ..
We will continue to pay close attention to the future of discussions regarding truck platooning and automatic driving, and will actively carry out demonstration experiments while working with related organizations such as Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to realize them. I will cooperate with you.
In addition, the running test of the double connected truck has just started in November of last year, but currently using Ken-O Road, Tomei, Tomeisaka etc., between Saitama prefecture and Aichi prefecture, Gunma prefecture and Mie prefecture It should be added that a total of 6 double-joined trucks are in the middle of the experiment.

To give an example, we are currently experimenting with a double-coupled truck, but what kind of problems will occur in the passage of Expressway when the double-coupled truck runs? When it comes, it is difficult to enter if a long double-coupled car is running, where to park in SA, how to handle in case of accident etc. Since there are various problems, I think that it is necessary to examine how to deal with it while paying close attention to the experimental situation.

Not yet. I think that we will make specific adjustments toward January 2018.

This month marks the full year of the opening of the Shin-Tomei Expressway Aichi prefecture section, so please tell us what you think about the effect of opening the section.

President

The biggest thing is that the traffic congestion between the Tomei Okazaki IC and the Gamagori IC, which had been chronically congested until now, has almost disappeared. This section has been tentatively operated with three lanes, but has been returned to two lanes, but stable traffic has been secured since then. In addition, the elimination of traffic congestion has reduced the number of traffic accidents. In terms of productivity, traffic congestion has disappeared, and the travel time between Toyota JCT and Gotemba JCT has been shortened by about 200km through Tomei and Shin-Tomei Expressway-Tomei Expressways, and regular operation has become possible. Furthermore, we are also in the process of attracting factories around the roadside. In addition, due to the double network of Shin-Tomei Expressway-Tomei and Tomei, even if one is closed due to a disaster or traffic accident, the other can be used, so it can be said that reliability is increasing. We would like to open the entire section from Gotemba JCT to Ebina-minami JCT as soon as possible. Currently, construction is underway with the goal of 2020. In addition, when the Shin-Meishin Expressway Shin-Yokkaichi JCT and Kameyamanishi JCT open, a double network of Tomei / Shin-Tomei Expressway-Tomei and Meishin / Shin-Meishin Expressway-Meishin will be formed between the three major cities of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. I think this will greatly improve productivity as an effect of improving the Expressway. I would like to open it as soon as possible.
