We are pleased to announce that an EV for Expressway maintenance has been completed for the first time in Japan, and that it will enter a driving test on a test course.

The vehicle developed this time is a traffic sign that is used to notify customers of restrictions and to alert customers when construction regulations are made on Expressway. After about two months of running tests on this sign car on the test course, we will use it for work on actual Expressway from autumn and verify the evaluation. 【MC】

Now, I would like to receive your questions from now on.

[Reporter]

With regard to the new executive system, two directors and the president of Hachioji Regional Head Office, who has Sasago Tunnel their jurisdiction, have retired. Please tell us how you think the company is about to change these three people.

[President Kaneko]

Sasago Tunnel In response to the fall of the ceiling panel, all employees decided to prevent such recurrence, "3-Year Plan for Improving Safety", during July. I want to put it together and execute it reliably. As I mentioned earlier, the organization is also undergoing radical reforms and reviewing. Under such circumstances, a total of three directors and one executive officer have offered to resign, and we have decided to implement new measures to prevent recurrence and make the company a top priority for safety.

[Reporter]

Where are the three retired people going?

[President Kaneko]

not decided.

[Reporter]

Please tell us again about Kaneko's position.

[President Kaneko]

Sasago Tunnel In the event of a falling ceiling board, the first priority is to respond in good faith to the bereaved and the victims, and then to formulate and ensure the implementation of 3-Year Plan for Improving Safety In order to fulfill my responsibilities, I will remain in my current role and fulfill my responsibilities.

[Reporter]

Did you hear from Minister of Commerce Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in deciding on a new executive structure?

[President]

Minister Ota did not talk directly about our organization or executive system. However, the successor has been adjusted to Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism by allocating the best human resources.

[Reporter]

The three retired people have been deeply involved in safety management. Could you tell us why you chose the new three as a company?

[President Kaneko]

We have selected the most appropriate human resources, both internally and externally, for their personal background, skills, abilities, and knowledge. To date, the General Manager of the Maintenance and Service Business Division has been the president of two Regional Head Office Regional Head Office. In addition, we have the technical skills related to maintenance, and we believe that we are the best human resources. The general affairs division manager and the Hachioji Regional Head Office president were also selected, taking into account their abilities and background.

[Reporter]

Some say that the three retired employees have quit their responsibilities, but what do you think of the company's safety responsibilities?

[President Kaneko]

Investigation agencies are currently investigating the responsibility for the accident, so I would like to refrain from commenting. We believe that thorough measures to prevent recurrence are our top priority, and we are formulating a 3-Year Plan for Improving Safety by July. Under such circumstances, there was an offer from three people to resign, so I decided to solve the issues with a new executive system.

[Reporter]

You mentioned that you will be drafting an organizational reform plan by autumn, but from what perspective do you plan to create a new organization?

[President Kaneko]

We are a fairly large organization. It has a head office, four Regional Head Office, 24 maintenance and service centers, and 13 construction offices. There are 21 subsidiaries. Although each has its own role, it has been wasteful since working for many years since the JH era, and the authority and role of the original organization gradually became unclear over a long period of time, There is a place where is the center. The specifics have not yet been determined, but we want to work on the fundamentals of the organization.

[Reporter]

Please tell us your goals and expectations regarding the entire Mt. Fuji drive plan for the quick trip.

[President Kaneko]

As stated in our vision, we want to contribute not only to the construction, management and operation of Expressway, but also to the revitalization and development of the region. Our Expressway rural and urban areas. We want to revitalize the area as a plane, not just a line, but a Expressway and I believe that is our future role. Under such circumstances, the very nice news that Mount Fuji was registered as a World Cultural Heritage came in. Fuji is located in an area under the jurisdiction of the Company, and we believe that it can make a great contribution to both Shizuoka and Yamanashi prefectures. At the same time, we believe that increasing the number of customers using Expressway will benefit our business.

[Reporter]

Do you think your company's performance and financial results will be affected by Mt. Fuji's registration as a World Heritage Site?

[President Kaneko]

I hope that traffic volume will increase enough to have a positive effect on financial results. However, we did not calculate the induced traffic volume.

[Reporter]

Do you think that related businesses also have a positive effect?

[President Kaneko]

Yes.

[Reporter]

Regarding "Drive Project", we launched a new brand "New" which reused banners last month, and this time we can launch a different brand jointly by the three companies, but please tell us if you have any intentions or advantages.

[President Kaneko]

Both are part of the 3Rs of resources that we are working on through our business activities, and we reuse what we have disposed of as waste. "New" introduced last month is our unique brand. The “Drive Project” is a collaboration between three companies, targeting young people and launching under a new brand name.

This time we announced five types of products, but in the fall we will release about 5 to 10 types of new products. This time, we made a total of 500 pieces of 100 pieces each, but based on about 50 banners and about 1,500 airbags. The intent of the project is to reuse these things again without wasting them.

[Reporter]

Expressway Although it is an electric vehicle for maintenance, the charging system for electric vehicles is widely used at Chuo Expressway. What is your outlook for the spread of electric vehicles in the future?

[President Kaneko]

I believe that electric vehicles will become more popular in the future. To contribute to the realization of a low-carbon society, we believe it is necessary to spread electric vehicles widely and build facilities on roads.

[Reporter]

Electric vehicles for maintenance use wireless power supply. Could you tell us about the possibility that these vehicles will spread on Expressway in the future?

[President Kaneko]

Considering the spread of electric vehicles in the future, we believe that know-how related to electric vehicles and their power supply systems is indispensable, and we are developing them jointly with universities, machine manufacturers, electric manufacturers, and automobile manufacturers. Electric vehicles have difficulties in charging methods and charging capacities, so for example, we hope to be able to charge wirelessly while driving on Expressway. As a starting point, we believe that accumulation of know-how related to electric vehicles and their power supply systems is indispensable.

[Reporter]

Your company has installed quick charging systems for electric vehicles in service areas and parking areas. Are there any requests from the government, municipalities, or those who are actually using them to add them?

[President Kaneko]

We have installed contact-type charging systems in all service areas in Tomei and Shin-Tomei Expressway Tomei, and can be reached by electric vehicle from Tokyo to Nagoya. We have received requests, but the challenge in the future is that we need to invest accordingly. Expressway often run in mountainous areas and have significant initial investment in drawing electricity. I would like to talk to the country, local governments, electric car manufacturers, etc.

[Moderator]

It seems that the question has been interrupted, so this will end the regular press conference.
