Conference Summary

【MC】

Thank you for waiting. The 81st regular press conference will now begin.

[President Kaneko]

Thank you for always gathering in a busy place and a hot place.

Today, we have about 5 topics, but before that, let me say a few words.

On July 2, the new presidents of six Expressway companies met with Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Haneda.

The minister said, "For the Expressway companies, the next two years will be an important time. I want you to do it well in anticipation of 10 years of privatization."

In particular, he pointed out three points: I want you to focus on disaster prevention measures based on the lessons learned from the Great East Japan Earthquake last year, that you want to utilize the know-how of a private company to improve services and reduce costs, and debt. I was told that I would like to try to eliminate the missing link while making sure to repay.

For me personally, the second term has just started, and in response to the story of Minister Haneda, I have renewed my desire to work and manage the business that pleases everyone, and to manage.

Well then, today's topic.

First is the current state of business in June.

Toll revenue in June was 38,690 million yen, up 7.3% year-on-year.

The holiday special discount ended at 1,000 yen in the local area, the free social experiment was frozen, and the new Shin-Tomei Expressway, which was newly opened on April 14, helped to increase the year-on-year increase.

On the other hand, the traffic volume in June was 1,781,000 units a day, a decrease of 4.7% from the same month of the previous year. Highway national highways increased 0.5% year-on-year, but due to factors such as the freezing of social experimentation centered on general toll roads, overall sales declined year-on-year.

Regarding the status of the construction business, we announced on the 12th of this month, but the opening of 6 km between Tokai-Kanjo Expwy Ogaki-nishi Interchange (IC) and Yoro Junction (JCT) will be open on Saturday, September 15 at 15:00. Decided

This section, "Gifu clear stream national polity" in order to open up to Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism is a business that has been working intensively in cooperation with, the whole line opening is scheduled for 2020 fiscal year, Sekihiromi IC from Yokkaichi north JCT Is part of. This is the first westward section between OgakiNishi IC and Yoro JCT.

When the westbound section opens, Shin-Tomei Expressway, Shin-Meishin Expressway, Tomei, Meishin, Chuo Expressway, Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway will be integrated together with the eastbound section already open. By forming a wide-area network, it will function as an emergency transportation road in the event of a disaster, such as cooperation between industries across the borders of Aichi, Gifu, and Mie.

We will continue to work on the early opening of the remaining sections, so we ask for your understanding and cooperation.

Regarding ETC usage, the average daily usage rate in June was 89.8%.

Regarding the service area business, June service area sales were 12,506 million yen, an increase of 9.7% year-on-year.

The next topic is forecasting traffic jams on Expressway during the Obon season.

This year, due to the opening of the new Tomei Shin-Tomei Expressway the conversion of the Tomei Okazaki area to three lanes, we forecast that the number of traffic jams of 10 km or more will be reduced by about 30% from 219 last year to 150 times.

Peak of congestion, Out-bound 13 days from the line is August 11, In-bound by 16 days line from August 14, congestion number of more than 10km we expect 150 times, of which 30 km more than 12 times.

At the rest facility, service areas such as the Shin-Tomei Expressway Tomei NEOPASA and parking areas have been very well received, and congestion is especially expected. We plan to implement measures such as setting up temporary parking lots and effectively arranging parking lot organizers.

In addition, NEXCO CENTRAL provides traffic congestion forecast information and road traffic conditions in addition to the traffic congestion forecast guide distributed at hand, such as "iHighway Central Japan" that can be easily viewed on the official website and smartphones. I will.

In addition, the Tomei In-bound Line will carry out the "Tomei Obon Congestion Reduction Team Campaign" to alleviate traffic congestion by using it during times when it is expected that customers will not be congested.

Please use it before departure and use it in a distributed manner to avoid traffic congestion.

The next topic is the traffic situation after the opening of Shin-Tomei Expressway.

Shin-Tomei Expressway The average daily cross-sectional traffic volume for the three months after the opening was Shin-Tomei Expressway was about 40,000 and the parallel Tomei was about 43,000. The total traffic volume of Shin-Tomei Expressway and Tomei was about 83,000, an increase of about 14% compared to the same period in the previous year before the opening.

On the other hand, the traffic volume on the Tomei Expressway has decreased by about 40%, and we believe that the conversion to the Shin-Tomei Expressway Tomei Expressway has been attempted. Due to this traffic change, traffic congestion from Gotemba JCT to Mikkabi JCT has been greatly reduced. The number of accidents was announced by the Shizuoka Prefectural Police High Speed Corps on July 18, but a decrease of about 9% can be seen.

In addition, the usage of NEOPASA's 7 locations, which have been very well received, was very large, with a total of approximately 13 million visitors during the three months.

Sales in the service area and parking area were ¥ 6.4 billion at 13 locations in Shin-Tomei Expressway Tomei and ¥ 2.6 billion at 20 locations in parallel with Tomei, totaling ¥ 9 billion. Tomei's sales for the same period last year were 4.1 billion yen, an increase of 4.9 billion yen. Unfortunately, Tomei to be parallel, but fell traffic volume reduction also there for 15 billion yen, such as NEOPASA Shin-Tomei Expressway to the service area of, a lot of our customers have seen as a result of our visit as a destination I will. We will continue to provide better services, hold attractive events, and aim to become an area that you will want to visit again and again.

By the way, on the night of July 11, at the Shimizu JCT heading from Tomei to Shin-Tomei Expressway Tomei, a large freight car fell from the ramp of the JCT, and the driver died. Also, on the night of July 14th, there was an accident involving three vehicles near the FujiedaOkabe IC Shin-Tomei Expressway Out-bound Line, resulting in the death of the driver released outside the vehicle. Has occurred.

We pray for the souls of those who have died.

At the Shimizu JCT, as a measure to reduce speed, we installed road markings such as "a sharp curve" and a temporary LED display board, and the police and local people also commented on measures to prevent falling off the road. I will examine it while listening to.

In addition, traffic accidents frequently occur every year during traffic congestion such as Obon. Recently, there have been many fatal accidents in which the passengers were released outside the vehicle. We ask that all passengers wear seat belts at all seats, keep their speed down, and drive safely.

The next topic is about training using "New Bridge".

In September of last year, we set up a facility called "New Bridge", which reused the removed bridge, on the campus of Nagoya University. So far, we have tried education and training at universities and our company and verified effective training of bridge inspection engineers and methods of passing on the technology, but now the content of the training has been decided and reception starts from today. However, it will start from September 25th.

We believe that the training effect will be very high because we will learn clinical lectures and practical skills related to maintenance and inspection using old bridges that were actually used. In order for a large number of engineers from universities, government agencies and private companies in the Chubu region to participate, we have organized a bridge conservation technology training council with industry, government and academia to support the training.

In addition, we will also provide technical level certification tests for those who have completed the training, support when they are used as classes, and provision of research and development fields.

We have prepared a brochure with an outline of the training. As part of our priority area of CSR activities, “strengthening regional cooperation and contributing to local communities and the economy,” we encourage students and young engineers to effectively utilize the “New Bridge” We hope to contribute to Ken and to help in the research of extending the life of road structures.

The next topic is the announcement of the 2nd Sweets Contest.

Tomorrow, we will hold the final selection of the second sweets contest this year at Nichiei Cooking College in Naka-ku, Nagoya.

This contest decides the best sweets in the service area and parking area. 37 restaurants participate in the contest, and 10 stores that have won the qualifying in each area will challenge the final selection.

The theme for this time is "Jikara sweets". It is a new dessert that you can taste local vegetables and fruits easily and only in that area.

The jury will invite Yasushi Kakizawa, a patisserie potager specializing in vegetable sweets, and Ami Suzuki, a singer and food analyst.

We will prepare tastings for the mass media at the venue, so please take a look at your new sweets.

Finally, we are late in reporting to you about scandals by our former employees. This is because, as explained above, we are studying the ideal way of work centered on construction offices and conducting a company-wide survey on the compensation of land, etc., in light of income tax law violations or fraud cases.

We are in the process of compiling, and we would like to announce it as soon as possible after coordination with related organizations.

That's it for the topics we prepared today.

Now, I would like to receive your questions from now on.

[Reporter]

When will the construction work for Shimizu JCT end?

[President]

The current lane mark, sharp curve display and temporary LED display board have already been implemented. For items that can be added in a short period of time such as the addition of warning signs and arrow boards, we plan to construct by August. It is expected that it will take about half a year because we will design and construct the protective fences and line-of-sight guidance lights after consulting with local residents and police and other related organizations.

[Reporter]

I think tomorrow's sweets contest is an effort to enhance the appeal of the service area and parking area itself. Please tell us the significance of the contest again.

[President]

I think it is important that we continue to provide new and attractive services to our customers, such as eating and drinking and shopping, so that we can come to our service areas and parking areas as our destinations over and over again. I will. I think this sweets contest is one way to convey the appeal of each service area and parking area.

It seems that the question has been interrupted, so this will end the regular press conference.
