# Memories of autumn and winter in Hokuriku

Hokuriku whole episode

Chiba woman

"Old Hokuriku Expressway Hizakurige" Traveling from Joetsu-Takada-juku to Funami-juku, Higashi-Iwase-juku, Nonoichi-juku, Komatsu-juku, Takefu-juku, and Imajo-juku to Nakasendo Torii-honjuku, complete the approximately 410km in 22 days, and visit the majestic post towns, temples and shrines. I was able to fully enjoy the rich nature as well as the temples.
I will never forget the kindness of the local people. The nature, culture, and food were all wonderful, and it was the most enjoyable trip out of the 16 old roads I have walked so far.
I would like to visit the areas that left an impression on me again and spend more time looking around.

Editorial department S comment
Completed 410km in 22 days! Yaji-san and Kita-san are also surprisingly strong.
What kind of contact did you have with the locals? Just imagining it gives me a warm feeling.
When you visit again, be sure to use the "current" Hokuriku Expressway! (smile)

Fukui Prefecture Episode

Kanagawa female

When I was a child, I lived in Fukui. In the winter, it snowed heavily, and the vacant lot next door was covered with snow as high as the one-story house.
I remembered that my father made slopes and igloos out of the snow and played with my little sister. It may not be so heavy snow in hokuriku now due to global warming. The other day, when I visited Kanazawa for the first time in a while to visit my father's ashes, I saw this booklet and the call for submissions, and the memories of those days came back to me.
Editorial department K comment
Hokuriku, including Fukui Prefecture, is a very snowy region. I think it's rare to see snow as high as our house these days, but I'm grateful that this booklet reminded me of my childhood memories with my father and sister.

Aichi Prefecture Male

I have been visiting Ski Jam Katsuyama with my family for the past two years during the New Year holidays.
Contrary to the warm winter a few years ago, I had a lot of fun with heavy snow, but driving along the way was tough.

Editorial department S comment
Thank you for the wonderful piece!
When I was little, I remembered the first time I skied at Ski Jam Katsuyama, which my father took me to.
Memories, including the difficult driving, will surely become seeds for family stories.

Aichi Prefecture Male

A colleague from my previous job was transferred to Fukui Prefecture, and at work I said, "Let's go hang out together!" and went to Fukui in the winter.
To celebrate our reunion after a long time, we decided to have dinner at an izakaya. All the dishes after that were delicious, but I still can't forget the deliciousness of the first bite of the chopped octopus.

Editorial department M comment
Food is one of the attractions of Hokuriku.
Along with the reunion with colleagues, there was also a new encounter with unforgettable deliciousness. The octopus that was eaten must have been satisfied!

Episode of Ishikawa Prefecture

Kyoto Prefecture Female

Speaking of Hokuriku in winter, it is hot springs. Kosoyu of Yamashiro Onsen is recommended. The exterior is beautiful, the interior is stained glass, the bathroom tiles are Kutani ware, and the walls are lacquered. It is flowing directly from the source. If you go first thing in the morning, you'll get the best vow fulfillment card. At the Soyu shop next door, the Ontama soft ice cream is a must!
Soft-serve ice cream in a cup topped with a melty hot spring egg. Stir well and eat.
Editorial department M comment
1,300 years ago, in the 2nd year of the Kamikaze era, when the high priest Gyoki visited the sacred Mt. Hakusan to worship, he discovered that the Yatagarasu healed his wounds in the spring, which is the origin of Yamashiro Onsen. . It is also attractive that you can enjoy history and culture at Kosoyu!

Kanagawa Prefecture Women

The Noto seafood rice bowl I ate when I went to see a friend who was transferred was delicious.
In Ishikawa Prefecture, both the seafood and the fruits of the mountains were delicious, and the sea and greenery were beautiful!
I'm happy to be able to go by one from Tokyo.
I hope to visit again.

Editorial department K comment
Looking at the picture, it looks like a delicious seafood bowl that makes you want to eat it right now. Hokuriku is surprisingly close to Kanto, as it can be reached by plane or by bullet train! Please visit your friends again and enjoy Hokuriku gourmet and nature!

Gifu Prefecture Female

On our wedding anniversary, we went to an inn in Wajima where you can enjoy fishing on a raft.
When I enjoyed fishing while drinking wine, I got seasick and fell down, so my husband had dinner alone while looking at the sea. For breakfast, I had the "sea bream shiogama-yaki" that I was supposed to eat at night. I worried about everyone in the inn. It was a wonderful inn with a cave bath, so I want to get revenge again!
Editorial department K comment
Thank you for posting your wonderful wedding anniversary memories. An inn with a cave bath looks really nice. When you come to revenge again, please enjoy your meal while looking at the sea!

Shiga Prefecture Women

I went to Yamanaka Onsen with my 5-month-old son.
My son, who warmed up in the hot spring for the first time, was soundly at the inn. My husband and I had a relaxing night after a long time. The scenery of the nearby Kakusenkei, Ayatori Bridge, and Korogi Bridge was also wonderful, making it a fun family trip.
Editorial department M comment
It reminded me of what it was like in a warm inn!
The place you went is a representative spot of Yamanaka Onsen, and the beautiful scenery of the four seasons is popular. If the season changes, you can enjoy a different atmosphere. Please come again.

Tokyo women

A trip to Ishikawa with a friend who went to autumn. This is the sunset taken on the way back to Kanazawa station by car.
I took a picture while savoring the feeling of reluctance that the trip is over.

Editorial department S comment
Autumn is dusk. I was captivated by a very beautiful photo of the Sea of Japan and the setting sun blending together.
I envy you for a trip that will make you regret it. Please visit Hokuriku as many times as you want and take lots of wonderful memories!

Toyama Prefecture Episode

Fukui Prefecture Female

It's about 30 years old now. When I was a student, I lived in Toyama, so I used to ski at the Ushidake Onsen ski resort in the winter. The wide and gentle slopes were easy to slip even for beginners.
At that time, when speaking of local events, there were many beauty pageants. What can I hide, I was Miss Snow White at Ushidake Onsen Ski Resort.
It was a good time, the prize money and supplementary prizes were amazing. It's a nostalgic memory from long ago.
Editorial department M comment
I used to live in Ishikawa Prefecture, but my first time skiing was in Toyama Prefecture.
I remember it fondly too! Hokuriku also has attractive ski resorts. Even so, I'm curious about the amazing prize money and supplementary prizes at that time.

Tokyo women

When I was a student, I learned about straw-style trays, and even though I was still young, I was strongly attracted to that mysterious atmosphere and visited Yao. At that time, it was not as famous as it is now, and information on the Internet was not widespread, so it was difficult to gather information in advance.
On the way there, I saw two locals, a man and a woman, quietly playing the kokyu (kokyu) while walking down an alleyway.
Editorial department S comment
Thank you for posting such a beautiful image of two people walking down an alley, who are somewhat out of this world.
In 2022, the ′′ small ′′ Owara-style bon has resumed for the first time in 3 years. Please visit Yao again.
