It was in 2011 that I learned the word "unprecedented."
It's been a year that everyone will never forget.
Under such circumstances, as the 5th deadline of this photo contest approached, all the judges were concerned about the decrease in the number of entries, but when the lid was opened, although there were slightly fewer than last year, there were many high-level works, and the judging session took longer than usual.
Mr. Yoshikata Niwa's "Connected Future" won the top prize in 2011 because of its exquisite framing with Mt. Fuji, which is Shin-Tomei Expressway nearing completion day by day and a powerful crane watching over it together.
Ikuo Hoshino's "Going through Momogengo," which was selected for the Excellence Award, was a characteristic of early spring in Chuo Expressway, and even the scent of fragrant flowers was well expressed in the dimly clouded light, and it made me feel like a career.
Chiyomi Ito's (female) "Dreams are Koshien!!" is very well framed in the way people interact with Expressway in their lives, and her unique perspective is wonderful. As an aside, in 2010 "Spring in the Fujimae Tidal Flats" won the Grand Prix. He is also elderly and a senior among the award winners.
Shigeru Hatanaka's "Welcoming in Autumn," which won the same Excellence Award, depicts the loop of the interchange in a large-scale composition against the backdrop of the autumn leaves of Hida Road in Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway.
Mr. Kato's "Late Night Snow Removal" is a photograph of snow removal at night in the winter Chuo Expressway, but the frigid cold is transmitted more realistically by being slightly blurred in the dark.
Masaharu Mochizuki's "Changing Satoyama," which was selected for the Special Prize, shows how Shin-Tomei Expressway roads are arranged in harmony over complex terrain. It was interesting that it was filmed as if I was looking at a miniature.
Yukio Sugiura's special prize "Refreshing Sight" also captures the scene where a road racer runs comfortably under a powerful pier Shin-Tomei Expressway where construction is progressing steadily. It's just a chance.
In addition, there were many honorable mentions and selected works, and it was a very exciting judging session.
We look forward to receiving many applications from a wide range of generations next time.
