Interview date: November 2023
What was your motive for joining the company?
I joined the company because I wanted to be involved in work related to communications in a tangible way. Another factor in my decision to join the company was that when I attended a company information session, the conversations among the employees were friendly and the atmosphere was nice.
What kind of work is your job?
In order to avoid inconvenience to customers due to breakdowns in communication and ETC equipment, we are working to maintain and manage aging communication equipment by updating and improving it. Additionally, since we handle a wide range of wireless equipment, including ETC equipment and road-to-vehicle information equipment, we also handle application procedures and meetings with the relevant ministries and agencies that have jurisdiction over the Radio Law. In addition, we are coordinating and holding discussions with contractors and construction managers regarding construction orders and construction in order to establish a new fee structure.
How rewarding is this job?
Although there are many routine tasks such as paperwork and administrative procedures that accompany the progress of construction, you will feel a sense of accomplishment once the construction is complete. In particular, external consultations with the government must be carried out by employees as the contractor for the construction work, and if a mistake or accident occurs, the responsibility as the contractor is heavy, so each task must be carried out carefully. At the same time, I find it rewarding to be able to steadily accumulate results from my work. I also feel a sense of mission in my work because I am involved in the facilities and equipment (ETC equipment and information provision equipment) that are used by Expressway customers on a daily basis.
What are your thoughts on the appeal and characteristics of this company?
It's not just a desk job. By checking the equipment on-site and thinking about future renewal plans, we can see that each piece of equipment has meaning, and that innovations and safety measures that were unknown to us from our customer's perspective have been implemented in many locations. I learned. I also think that one of the attractions is that when a natural disaster occurs and roads are closed, the office has a cohesive force to respond as one. Executives, people in charge, and Companies in our Group are working together to lift the road closure as quickly as possible.
What are your goals for the future?
We want to provide our customers with safer and more comfortable facilities. Specifically, we would like to update aging equipment and remove unnecessary equipment, and provide Expressway equipment that is easy for the entire group to inspect and manage. Additionally, as a facility worker, I would like to take full advantage of systems and communication networks and be involved in building system infrastructure that allows us to provide customers with more reliable information more quickly.
