Interview date: November 2023

Q. What was your motive for joining the company?

I started thinking that I wanted to work in the infrastructure industry that supports Japan's culture and economy, and I decided to join the company because I wanted to work on Expressway, which I have been using since I was a child and have always been familiar to me.

Q. What kind of work is your job?

We are in charge of maintenance and repair work to ensure that Expressway can be used safely and comfortably. Based on daily patrol reports and inspection results reports from Companies in our Group responsible for inspections, we plan daily short-term repairs and long-term repairs over several years. Short-term repairs are carried out in close coordination with Companies in our Group responsible for maintenance in order to respond to conditions that change daily. For long-term repairs, we will draw up and formulate a comprehensive repair plan that also takes into account the daily damage situation. In addition, we respond flexibly to various incidents that occur on Expressway within our jurisdiction, including on-site inspections.

Q. How rewarding is this job?

This is where we can directly contribute to the day-to-day safety of Expressway. It is necessary to respond to customer feedback and proposals from related parties, including employees of Companies in our Group, from an on-site perspective and in a short time. For this reason, we are sometimes required to plan and construct work in a short period of time, but we will meet and coordinate with people from Companies in our Group responsible for inspection and maintenance, and devise construction methods to quickly respond. Later, when I visit the site where the repairs were made and see things going ``as usual,'' I realize that we are supporting the daily lives of everyone, including the local community.

Q. What are your thoughts on the appeal and characteristics of this company?

This is a place where you can experience a wide range of work, including Expressway construction, daily maintenance and repair, and new business development. We believe that by experiencing a variety of tasks through job rotation, employees will develop mutual understanding of their work, which will lead to smoother work execution. Additionally, since our company has jurisdiction over a wide range of areas, from warm regions to areas with heavy snowfall, it is essential to select construction and repair methods for structures that suit each climate. In this way, I believe that students will be able to develop the ability to respond flexibly, taking into account regional characteristics.

Q. What are your goals for the future?

In my current job, I am honing my perspective on managing Expressway maintenance and repair. In addition, by being seconded to Companies in our Group that handles maintenance and being in charge of daily repair work myself, I understood the importance of protecting the safety of people working on site, and it was easier to manage in case of labor shortages. I felt the need to aim for Expressway.
In the future, I will continue to improve my on-site skills in my current department, and by acquiring diverse perspectives and knowledge through job rotation, I aim to become a human resource that will lead to smoother collaboration between departments. To go.
