Interview date: November 2023

Q. What was your motive for joining the company?

I was fascinated by the highly public nature of Expressway, which are the cornerstone of logistics and a familiar presence used for travel, and I decided to establish our company because I wanted to be involved in the transportation infrastructure that serves as Japan's main arteries between Tokyo and Osaka. I applied.

Q. What kind of work is your job?

Your job will be to build Expressway network in cooperation with the head office and construction office, with the goal of opening Expressway. Of course it is necessary to complete the work by the set target, but safety, quality, and cost must also be taken into consideration. We will examine and discuss whether the design satisfies these requirements and create construction order materials. Management after the construction contract is signed is also an important task. For example, in construction projects, it is often necessary to change the contents of the original contract due to changes in on-site conditions, and it is necessary to manage how to respond to these changes.

Q. How rewarding is this job?

The most rewarding part of the construction business is “opening the road.” Construction projects are large-scale projects, and the goal of opening a road can only be reached after more than ten years, including business approval, research, and design. In addition to the opening, it is also very rewarding to be able to see Expressway taking shape every day. After a lot of work in ordering and managing construction work, when the business you've been involved in reaches its goal and you see new cars on the road, you can feel the high degree of social contribution of your business.

Q. What are your thoughts on the appeal and characteristics of this company?

Expressway are used 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by a variety of customers for their own purposes. We feel that our company, which continues to build and protect Expressway network, is an indispensable part of society.
In addition, our company has job rotation, and employees gain experience in various departments, including the construction business, maintenance and service business, and corporate. By being involved in the Expressway project from all walks of life and interacting with customers and related parties, you will be able to experience the rewards of the job from a variety of perspectives. Another feature of my career as a civil engineer is that it has a wide range of fields, which I find appealing.

Q. What are your goals for the future?

As I mentioned earlier as one of the attractions, our company is involved in Expressway business from various departments, including the construction business, maintenance and service business, and corporate. Every department supports Expressway business, and our major goal is to become human resources who can play an active role in any field. Although I still have little experience, I would like to actively absorb knowledge from my seniors and superiors and acquire a wide range of knowledge and experience.
