Interview date: August 2024

Q. What was your motive for joining the company?

I have often used Expressway when traveling with my family since I was young. Seeing the sight of many cars and trucks driving on the expressways made me realize that Expressway are an important piece of infrastructure that supports people's lives. I wanted to contribute to society by working on Expressway, so I decided to join the company.

Q. What kind of work is your job?

When starting new projects such as the four-lane widening project and the construction of new smart interchanges, I coordinate with the national and local governments, and analyze the effects of the development of the local economy and the improvement of living environments that will be implemented after the opening. In addition, I often work with organizations both inside and outside the company on initiatives that will lead to the revitalization of areas along the expressway and ways to utilize Expressway. I also work on joint research in collaboration with local educational institutions. As the work involves a wide range of tasks and many people involved, it can be difficult to make adjustments, but the sense of accomplishment when we complete it is great.

Q. How rewarding is this job?

The work I am in charge of is the core of the business, and I am working on it while understanding the purpose and background of the business. For this reason, I am motivated to work while imagining how the work I am doing will be useful not only to customers who use Expressway, but also to the lifestyles and tourism of the areas along the expressway. I feel that this is a job that allows me to contribute to "being useful to society by being involved in important infrastructure that supports people's lives," which was what I envisioned before joining the company.

Q. What are your thoughts on the appeal and characteristics of this company?

Job rotation allows me to experience a variety of work. I previously worked in the maintenance and service business division, but now I work in the corporate division, where I am able to utilize my past experience and engage in my work with a fresh feeling. We also have a comprehensive in-house side-job system that allows employees to try out work in other departments that interest them. In fact, I am concurrently working in the "i-MOVEMENT Promotion Office" and am working on "in-house development of AI for maintenance work." Being able to get involved in a field that interests me of my own volition leads to high motivation and job satisfaction.

Q. What are your goals for the future?

I would like to think about how Expressway will be managed and operated in the future through coordination with many people both inside and outside the company. I believe it is necessary to keep an eye on ever-evolving technology, incorporate useful technology, and continue to consider maintenance methods that are in line with the times. To that end, I would like to gain experience in a variety of areas, including construction, maintenance and service, and corporate, and become a valuable asset who can play an active role in a wide range of fields.
