Reason for joining the company
I wanted to continue working in a position that would allow me to contribute to the local community throughout my career, so I applied to join the company. In addition to my love for large-scale work, I was also attracted to the idea of being able to experience the charms of new places through transfers.
What kind of work have you done in the past and now?
I previously worked at a financial institution. I believe that my current job has something in common with my previous one, in that I was able to contribute to the development of the local community through my work. After joining the company, I was in charge of managing the Shizuoka Maintenance and Service Center, where I was involved in the construction of smart ICs, which I have fond memories of. In addition, in the Tokyo Regional Head Office Public Relations and Customer Service Division, I was blessed with the opportunity to visit various sites to respond to interviews and other inquiries, and I felt a great sense of accomplishment when the programs and articles I was involved in were published. Currently, I work in the Head Office Toll Division, where I am responsible for compiling and analyzing the company's traffic volume and revenue. There are many things I have never heard of before, such as vocabulary and coordination with various Expressway companies, but I am studying every day with the support of those around me.
What do you think is the appeal of this company and what are your impressions after joining?
One of the unique things about Expressway business is that it is not profitable, which is one of its attractions. At first glance, you might wonder why it is so appealing when it is not profitable, but I believe that this characteristic allows us to honestly pursue our corporate philosophy and vision without being obsessed with short-term profits. Another attractive feature is the wide range of career options available, as you can gain experience in a variety of departments after joining the company. I feel that I am able to grow by gaining new knowledge and experience every time I am transferred. Since many people have experience in a variety of departments, it is reassuring to know that I can ask a variety of people if I don't understand something.
Message to applicants
Expressway have become a "thing we take for granted" as infrastructure that supports logistics, commuting, leisure, and more. While this can sometimes feel pressure, our work allows us to support the "little happiness" of many people. I joined the company from a different industry, but there is ample on-the-job training and other courses, giving me the opportunity to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to pursue the career I want. The environment surrounding Expressway is changing rapidly, but I would be happy to work with people who want to support this "thing we take for granted" for many years to come.
