Efforts in the 3-Year Plan for Improving Safety

In order to protect the safety of our customers, the Traffic Management Corps patrols the Expressway and responds to emergencies 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. With the mission and pride in protecting our customers' safety, our members are constantly watching the changing conditions of the Expressway.

Regular patrol

"Eyes" of members who quickly detect abnormalities on Expressway
The basis of the operations of the traffic management corps is the regular patrol of the Expressway that is performed every day.
The purpose of regular patrols is to quickly detect abnormalities on the Expressway, such as falling objects, broken cars, and damage to the road surface, and take prompt measures to ensure that customers can pass safely and safely. Members gain experience in patrols and train their eyes to quickly detect road conditions that differ from normal times.
Plans for regular patrols are based on road traffic conditions, such as increasing the number of patrols in the morning and evening when traffic increases, and working to prevent traffic accidents caused by falling objects that occur more frequently with increased traffic. It is a plan.

  • The frequency of regular patrols varies depending on the traffic volume, and in many areas, a given route is visited 20 times a day

Thorough preparation enables quick response
The annual mileage of the patrol car used by the traffic management team may be as much as about 100,000 km, so that not only the amount of fuel and engine oil but also the turn indicators and brake lights are turned on so that vehicle trouble does not occur during patrols We conduct thorough inspections every day, from checking to warning lights on the roof of patrol cars and confirming the operation of signage devices.
At the time of shift work, we will surely take over details such as instructions and notices from the road control center on the day, road traffic conditions, and usage of patrol car mounted products.

  • Always check before departure and after returning to make sure there are no problems with the patrol car that should keep safety

Patrol cars are loaded with over 40 types of equipment to respond to any situation, such as equipment for regulating lanes and repair materials for road surfaces.
In addition, mineral water is installed in the summer and portable cairo is installed in the winter to hand over to customers who are waiting outside the car due to an accident or breakdown.

  • In order to be able to take it out quickly in case of an emergency, the staff members are constantly devising and organizing, such as creating their own shelves.

When recovering fallen objects, carelessness is not allowed because momentary loosening and carelessness can lead to danger to life

Falling object recovery work performed under tension
If you find a fallen object, check the safety around you and immediately stop the patrol car on the shoulder. If the vehicle stops on the roadside, a passenger in the front passenger seat, who is in charge of monitoring, first gets off and confirms safety, and then a driver in the driver's seat, who is in charge of work, gets off. The surveillance officer shakes the flag and informs the customer that there is a danger of falling objects on the road. The worker in charge of the cutoff of the passing car, rushes to the falling object at the signal of the supervisor, and collects it neatly.
The most important thing for a traffic management team to work safely is to stand facing a passing vehicle (the principle of facing a passing vehicle). Working on the road is dangerous, so always be safe and work quickly and accurately.

Falling objects such as prefabricated huts and bathtubs on the road

Expressway The most common falling objects are plastics, vinyls, cloths, and automobile parts (tires, automobile accessories, etc.). In the ski season, skis and snowboards, in the moving season, household items, prefabricated huts and bathtubs may fall to unexpected things. Falling objects are the responsibility of the owner. Before departure, attach a sheet and secure it with a rope to prevent the baggage from falling, as it may cause an accident.

Checking the road surface and equipment is also an important task
Checking the road surface to prevent accidents is also an important task of the traffic management squad. If an abnormality is found on the road surface, etc., contact the Road Control Center and, if there is a problem with the traffic of the vehicle, regulate the lane to ensure traffic safety. In the case of minor road damage, first aid may be provided with repair materials installed on the patrol car.
If the banner installed on the overbridge is loose or if you find icicles falling at the tunnel entrance, contact the maintenance and service center, which is in charge of maintenance and repair of roads, and request a response.

Emergency response

Rush to the site as soon as possible to protect customer safety
Emergency response to accidents and broken cars is also an important duty of the traffic management squad.
In some cases, it may be discovered during regular patrols, or when an emergency is dispatched when information is provided to the Road Control Center by a customer through a road emergency dial. In some cases, emergency dispatches are carried out more than 40 times a day, and in other cases, various accidents overlap, resulting in long-term continuous processing.

Members arriving at the site will regulate lanes to ensure customer safety and prevent secondary accidents. Road conditions vary depending on the weather, time of day, road alignment, and so on. Members will devise the location and method of regulations according to the site, such as setting regulations before the curve.

Frequent collisions with vehicles stopped on the Expressway are frequent. If you cannot move due to an accident or breakdown, it is extremely dangerous, so please evacuate to a safe place such as the outside of the guardrail.
When customers leave the vehicle on the Expressway, they wear safety vests. The safety vest has high visibility both day and night, and has the effect of making the following vehicles aware of the customer.

After ensuring the safety of customers, we check the damage status of vehicles and roads, and if necessary, arrange for a tow truck or request for emergency construction at the Road Control Center. All work on the Expressway is adjacent to danger, so members are always nervous.

During such patrols, the traffic management squad will respond quickly to such sudden weather changes. If necessary, report the situation to the Road Traffic Control Center and use the patrol car's LED display to alert the following vehicle.
