JIST8127 was established in October 2015.
This sets standards for high-visibility safety clothing to increase the visual awareness of workers in potentially hazardous environments.
They are classified into three levels based on the risk to workers, such as the reflective material used, design, width and angle of the reflective material, and amount of fabric used, and specify the area of reflective material and fluorescent fabric to be used.
Workers on Expressway must perform their work closely with vehicles traveling at high speeds, so they require the highest level of Class 3 visibility.
