overview

Ground anchors are structures that stabilize slopes by exerting tension, and up until now, lift-off tests requiring large equipment have been used to measure tension during inspections. With the VIBRES® system, a small vibrator attached to the excess anchor length applies "sweep vibrations" whose frequency gradually increases over time, exciting resonance in the free tendon length. This resonance frequency is read by an accelerometer attached to the excess anchor length, and the tension is calculated using a physical formula. The VIBRES® system is a groundbreaking and original technology that uses vibration to measure the tension of ground anchors, thereby improving work efficiency and safety.
*The VIBRES® system is a technology jointly developed by our company, OYO Corporation, and Gifu University.

point

principle

The free length of the tendon, where tension acts, vibrates at a high frequency when tension is high, and at a low frequency when tension is low, like a guitar string. The relationship between tension (T) and the vibration frequency of the string is expressed by the physical formula (1). Since the ground anchor's tendon free length (L) and the linear density (μ) of the tendon free length are known from the design and construction drawings, the tension can be determined by measuring the vibration frequency (f). The VIBRES® system is a technology based on the principle of measuring the vibration frequency of the tendon free length (string), which changes depending on tension.
