Interchange junction junction

When vehicles merge at an interchange or junction, the running vehicle slows down to maintain a safe following distance. If you do not want to slow down, change lanes to the passing lane. The cars in the overtaking lane then slow down in the same way.
If there are many vehicles joining or there are many passing vehicles, it will affect the following vehicles and cause traffic congestion in both the driving lane and the passing lane.

Approximately 16% * 1 of traffic congestion that occurs in NEXCO CENTRAL area is caused by interchanges and junction junctions.

  • * 1 Ratio of congestion volume at major congestion points in 2018. However, it does not include traffic congestion caused by the effect of connecting roads. The amount of congestion is an index indicating the size of congestion, and is calculated by congestion time × congestion length.
