Reason for application

Work to support the Japanese aorta.

Spring

The opportunity to join the company was the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred when I was visiting an OB during job hunting. Although my major was civil engineering, I was also considering trading companies and other places of employment as a place of employment, but I realized the importance of infrastructure development again when I saw the situation where supplies did not reach the disaster-stricken area due to infrastructure disruption. I'm sorry. So, after all, try to put yourself in the civil engineering industry. Expressway There was also a desire to contribute to society as much as possible.

I want to do a big job that will affect the Japanese economy. You were attracted to the Tomei Expwy, a job that supported the "Japanese aorta". I wanted to continue working for as long as possible, so the attractive system of maternity leave and childcare leave was also attractive.

Did both of you have any resistance to the transfer?

岩佐

NEXCO CENTRAL I wasn't concerned about relocation within the business area.

I didn't have any resistance. I'm from Kansai and my university was in Kanto, so this area, which is an intermediate point, is familiar.

川島

No other company is consistently involved in road construction and management. In my case, that was the decisive factor for joining the company. Since he was a member of the Highway Public Corporation era, his business area is nationwide. I was really excited about where he was assigned. Actually, I always worked in the Kanto area, NEXCO CENTRAL I wanted to go to the worksite across the country to say the truth.

The Yokohama Conservation and Service Center to which I belong is under the jurisdiction of Tomei Shin-Tomei Expwy, Ken-O Road, Shin-Shonan By-Pass. The facility's job is to maintain and manage the buildings and facilities within its jurisdiction. I am in charge of repair and renovation work for service areas, tollgate ETC equipment, road information boards, etc. My specialized field is architecture, but I also have to be in charge of non-specialized electrical, system communication and mechanical fields. In addition, it is difficult to manage the budget. On the other hand, one of the responsibilities for the architectural work involved renovating the Ebina service area at Tomei Expwy. There is a courtyard inside the building, but we collaborated with local landscaping department high school students to enhance the design so that customers could enjoy the place as a place to relax. Architecture is challenging and interesting where not only functions but also design aspects are reflected. I was glad that I could leave a mark as a shape that will remain in the future!

I am in charge of everything from ordering construction to managing and supervising the construction of the Shin-Tomei Expwy. I guess the site and desk work are about half and half. We perform comprehensive management of the work in charge. At the construction site, we will check the progress of the construction, and if there is a large stone coming out and the construction can not be continued, we will discuss with the contractor's site supervisor about unexpected issues and consider countermeasures. It takes about 30 minutes by car from the office to the site. It's fun to head to the site on a sunny day! It's a self-proclaimed “construction zone closest to Mt. Fuji” (laughs), so the view is very good.

Earlier, I was involved in opening the Shin-Tomei Expwy, just like Izumi. Currently, the main task is to reduce traffic congestion on the Higashi-Meihan Expwy and the Tomei Expwy. As a sub-leader, we are examining and planning various measures to reduce traffic congestion and ensure smooth traffic with the person in charge. Yes, actually, I predict traffic jams such as GW, summer vacation, New Year holidays, etc., based on many years of experience and data. In addition, we are examining the zoning of parking lots in the service area and the layout of toilets, etc., to improve the service of the facilities.

Have you ever felt uneasy in terms of physical fitness or struggled because you are a woman?

岩佐

I'm in a position to supervise in the field, so there aren't many scenes where I feel physically strong. On the other hand, you may feel caring about yourself because you are a woman. For example, when responding to traffic closures, it is said that Mr. Iwasa is in the headquarters. When working outside for a long time, I think that women are taking care of the toilet.

I thought that such consideration was not necessary in the first year. Rather, I will do it! (Laughs) But as I worked, I knew what I could and could not do. If you don't do it, you may be inconvenienced, and now we are honestly grateful.

Even though there is concern, there is no doubt that it is a sports association as a climate. Because the site is safety first, I often speak to inform myself that I am here, and I can't afford any compromise on safety.

The decision criteria are safe no matter what you decide. When I joined the company, I thought I was in a great company. Since people around us seek safety, their consciousness has changed a lot recently, as long as their answers do not conform to them.

Although responsibility is heavy, what I have decided and planned is always in shape. There is great joy and reward. That's exactly what remains on the map.

To create a road, you should start by drawing on the desk. Then, divide into the planned mountain, walk along the mountain path, and conduct a preliminary survey. If a bridge pier is set up here, the construction plan will be made by considering the heavy equipment to be used and the import route of the equipment based on the project cost and process, and the construction will be started from the entrance route. Creating something from scratch is a continuous process. Even one fence has an episode. But that's why I can feel a great sense of accomplishment.

Because I am active as a business, I have to get results. He finds a solution for himself, prepares materials to persuade his boss, actually persuades him and proceeds. So everyone is suffering (laughs).

But that's also a study because it leads to other jobs. It might be nice to expand the internal network. Since there are still a few technical female employees, I remember thinking about who to rely on when I joined the company.

I want the next leader to grow from here. I think that our company is trying to listen to the opinions of employees as much as possible. Don't you think that the system in which “Lead Off Man” has been appointed and placed in all offices so that senior employees can be a model and admiration for young employees in particular is a groundbreaking initiative? Each lead-off man picks up the voice of the workplace, gathers for a meeting, and that voice is reflected in the future vision such as the management plan.

It is reliable that people who can actually work and have respect can deliver young opinions. It is natural for young employees to understand the company's management policy as an employee, but honestly it is difficult to understand. I am also grateful that the lead-off man plays the role of a pipe and conveys the intentions of the management in an easy-to-understand manner.

Various initiatives have started to create a work environment that is comfortable for both men and women, but I think it is still in the process of growth. I would like to be a good influence on my juniors by continuing to work as a technical female employee for a long time and gaining a career.

Above all, I like work. There are many jobs that I want to experience. I want to find a place where I can make the most of my abilities. And I want to be a person who can play an active role in that field, whether inside or outside the country or inside.
